TORCHWOOD
At the beginning of the week, I wasn't even sure if I was gonna watch Torchwood, but when I got home I got an email from the box saying the torrent was up so I decided to give it a chance.
and the episode was good enough to keep me watching all week.
they weren't great and at no time I felt the same connection or interest I felt before.
I still miss Owen and Tosh terribly.
but the plot was good enough to distract me and I found it all very interesting.
the children, the weird aliens which reminded of independence day, the creepy goverment types, the torchwood rivals (there's a good idea for a spin-off) and how the worst of humanity seemed to surface.
the man killing his family was horrible.
I liked the secretaries, they played great parts.
It reminded of The Doctor's word in TCI
"I gave them the wrong warning...I should've told them to run, run and hide cause the monster's are coming. the human race."
he said that to Harriet Jones, mostly about Torchwood but also what her actions as primer minister in a crisis.
and they act similarly here. by that i mean, just as bad,
by the end, it also reminded me of Adama's words, about why we fight so hard to survive and if we even deserve it.
I would've liked more to see about the aftermath of the events than see Jack running away again. though it was a good ending, but a bit too fast.
I found it weird that just now we find out about Jack's and Ianto's family.
they've never even been mentioned before!
in the case of Ianto, I knew it didn't bode well, usually when you meet someone's family it's so someone will be worried about them when they are hurt or die.
for the record, I don't care about Ianto. I wasn't cheering when he died, but I was just indifferent about the whole affair. I've never liked Ianto.
I don't know if the show is coming back. It can certainly work as a series finale. or it could start back up again. somewhere else. but it'd have to change, I think, they would have to change the formula and all that. it can't continue the way it's been. and it'd have to have a complete new cast.
I think it'd be fun to see a captain jack-less torchwood. see someone attempt to build it on his honour.
Torchwood could start from scrap. all branches were destroyed after all.
